Often times when we suffer from depression, anxiety, trauma or abuse we begin to feel isolated, misunderstood, weighted down or experience mood changes or other symptoms. Our relationships may become strained and it is difficult to see that life could be any different than how it feels in the moment and our own strengths become overshadowed by the challenges we are experiencing. I believe individuals have the potential to change and ultimately are striving toward emotional, mental and social satisfaction. I can help you achieve those goals by examining the connection between your behaviors, thoughts, body and feelings, and safely guiding you toward powerful change resulting in an optimum state of mental health. Using a blend of psychotherapy approaches, including solution focused, EMDR, sensorimotor psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral and mindfulness approaches, we will achieve your wellness goals.
I work with adults, 18 years and older.

I have dedicated my professional career to working with children and families. Before becoming a licensed psychologist, I worked in the field of early intervention, as a credentialed elementary school teacher, in a residential facility and as a behavioral specialist. I use a variety of techniques, including cognitive behavior therapy and play therapy, to provide an individualized treatment plan with each child and teen. Children come to work with me for many reasons including anxiety, OCD, depression, ADHD, high functioning autism and behavioral difficulties. In addition, I enjoy working with highly gifted and "twice exceptional" children. I strive to work closely with parents and to include them in the therapeutic process.
To schedule an appointment you are welcome to contact me by phone and leave me a confidential voicemail or send me an email.
I work with children 6-18 years of age.

Trauma is not something that happens to other people; traumatic events happen to us all. It's hard to predict when and how difficult experiences will impact us. Strangely enough, the concerns we find hardest to work through usually make little sense to us. Often we can recover from difficulties on our own, other times it's not so easy. Therapy can be immensely helpful when we find that we are mired in a state of depression, experiencing anxiety, having struggles in our relationships, or are stuck in other distressing patterns. I work collaboratively and non-judgmentally with clients to help restore - or create - a sense of wellness. What you want out of therapy will guide our process. I often use a blend of ego state, mindfulness, and EMDR approaches to assist in this process. I tend to be direct, but expect your wishes to play the main role in what we do together.

Counseling Services:
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 18 years of experience. I work with individuals of all ethnicities, genders, and sexual orientations, ranging in age from 18 through 65+. My philosophy stems from a belief that life is an ever-changing process that provides the opportunities for individuals to develop into their own person; however, due to trauma or other painful or problematic issues, we may become stuck. My approach is warm, interactive, collaborative, and individualized drawing on different therapeutic models which may include mindfulness, psychodynamic, CBT, DBT, and EMDR approaches.
I aim to provide a safe, honest, nonjudgmental environment to explore/process what feels painful and problematic in your life. I have helped people work through relationship problems, trauma, eating disorders, anxiety and depression, sexual issues, gender identity concerns, women's issues, men's issues, and domestic violence.
Supervision for LPC/LMFT Interns:
I am an approved clinical supervisor for the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists (OBLPCT). I supervise interns seeking licensure to work effectively with individuals, families, couples, and children. I provide guidance with both the ethical and administrative aspects of clinical practice.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Portland, Oregon. There are many different approaches to therapy. What works for one person might not work for another. By developing a strong therapeutic relationship, we will find what works best. I approach sessions in a warm, collaborative and individualized way. It is my goal to create a safe, nonjudgmental environment to explore and process the things that are impacting you in your daily life. We all have a history and are doing the best we can with what we know, if we address barriers and unhelpful behaviors we can continue to improve and live a more satisfying life.
I use a framework of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), EMDR, motivational interviewing and other therapeutic models.

Therapy is about having a caring, objective, involved listener who is invested in helping you to create meaningful and lasting change and difference in your life. I work to create an atmosphere of acceptance, safety, and hope in the counseling office. My goal is to create an environment in which people can trust me. With over 15 years in the field I enjoy doing both shorter-term, solution focused work as well as providing longer-term more depth oriented support for more complicated issues. I feel honored to be given the opportunity to hear my client’s stories, and witness as they make connections between the past and the present, learn to listen to their inner voice, and accept themselves as they truly are. As this happens, people can begin living a more full and satisfying life. My style is warm, open, honest, straightforward, humorous, and non-judge mental. My practice is inclusive and I am experienced in working with members of the LBGTQIA community and with clients in non traditional relationships. If you’d like to talk more about specifics, please reach out via email. I also offer a no cost 20 minute consultation for new potential clients. Looking forward to hearing from you!
